Description

The engine coolant heater consists of a heating element and a coolant chamber with inlet and outlet pipes for hoses of various dimensions. The heater does not have any thermostat, suitable for any installation methods. They are usually installed in a hose to the oil cooler or in the hose of the car's interior heater.

Engine heaters, MKMS cable sets and GL series cables are selected strictly according to the car model.

The wiring kit MKMS is required to install the engine heater.

User Guide

To maximize the output from the preheating system with minimum energy consumption and environmental impact, use the connection periods shown in the table below.

When +10°C approx. 1h
When     0°C approx. 1h
When    -5°C approx. 1.5h
When   -10°C approx. 2h
When   -20°C approx. 3h

Use either an external outdoor timer or an integrated programmable Calix Bluetooth timer to simplify planning and the use of the preheating system.

After using the Calix preheating and/or charging system.

  • Disconnect the Calix MS power cable by pulling on the plug; never pull on the cable.
  • Make sure the protective cover for the MK connector is closed.
  • Put the protective cover on the open MS power cable connector.
  • Note that the preheating system is designed for a normal use of up to 3 connections per day of max 3 hours each.
  • For professional use with constant connection e.g. in rescue and emergency vehicles or emergency generators, contact your Calix dealer for advice.

The engine heater element may burn out if:

  • The heater is connected to an intermittent (pulsating) power supply.
  • The coolant is dirty
  • There is insufficient coolant in the cooling system.
  • There is air in the cooling system.
  • There is sludge in the cooling system.
  • There is radiator sealant in the coolant

The warranty does not apply in such cases.
