Castrol GTX 10W-40 A3/B4 semi-synthetic engine oil is suitable for use in conventional engines, engines with turbo compressors and light diesel engines with standard change intervals, where the manufacturer recommends the use of ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, API SL/ CF or earlier specification SAE 10W-40 oil. Castrol GTX 10W-40 A3/B4 engine oil is also approved for use in older (engines built before 2000) VW Group car engines that require VW 501.01/505.00 specification and SAE 10W-40 viscosity, and older Mercedes-Benz cars, which require MB-approval 229.1 (not recommended for car engines from 2002+ 4 valve M271, M275, M285 gasoline engines and OM646, OM647, OM648 diesel engines) and SAE 10W-40 viscosity. This oil provides exceptional protection against the formation of deposits in the engine. Castrol GTX 10W-40 A3/B4 oil cannot be used in car engines with emission removal devices such as a catalytic converter, a three-stage catalytic converter (TWC) or a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
